Q. Is there a registration or joining fee?

No, it’s free.

Q. What do I need to get started?

A computer with stable internet access, a microphone and speakers as well as Google Meet. We also recommend you to have a webcam.

Q. What can I do on Nekotalk?

You can find the best tutor to support your Japanese language studying. You can take one-to-one lessons via Google Meet and download PDFs and videos.

Q. Can I take lessons from outside of Japan?

Of course, you can take lessons from anywhere in the world where you have fast and stable internet access.

Lessons and content downloads

Q. Once I have downloaded some videos and materials, can I view them at any time?

If you save the material on your device, you can open it anytime. However, each video and PDF download link has an expiration date. After that date, you’ll have to purchase the video or PDF to view it again.

Q. Who are Nekotalk’s tutors?

We have a wide range of specialists in our team. For more information, please check the tutor list.

Q. How to cancel a lesson?

On My Page > Confirm Lesson History/Reservation > Details page of the relevant lesson.
You can cancel a lesson for free up to 24 hours before the scheduled time. After that, we will not be able to refund your lesson, and you will be charged the full cost.

Q. When will I get my points back if I cancel?

The points will be refunded immediately. However, if you cancel the lesson later than 24 hours before the lesson, you will use 100% of the points required for the lesson.

Q. How many lessons can I take per day?

You can book as many lessons as you like.

Q. Can I have lessons at any time of the day?

Yes, it’s completely up to you and your tutor.

Q. What do I need to check before the lesson?

There are two things we would like you to do.

  1. -Test your microphone, speakers and webcam
    If technical issues on your side make it impossible to have a lesson, we will not be able to refund the points.
  2. -Approve the contact request from the tutor.
    Your teacher can only call you if you approve their contact request.

Q. Can I contact tutors before the lesson?

Yes, you can. The chat is located on the lesson page. To access that page, click "Lesson History." When you get a message from your tutor, a notification is also sent to your email.

Q. How to make sure my booking has been confirmed?

Once you book a lesson, the confirmation will be sent to your email address. You will also get an email notification in case of cancelation or receiving a message from your tutor.

Q. What should I do if I don't receive any calls from my tutor?

  1. Try to call the tutor (you will find the Google Meet ID in the reminder email).
  2. Try restarting Google Meet (it may be a technical issue).
  3. Make sure no other program is overloading your computer and preventing the call from starting.
  4. If there is still no call from your tutor, send them a short notice that you tried to contact them and specify ‘not done’ in the completion report.

Q. What if I could not join the lesson because my internet was unstable?

Report the problem on the “Lesson Completion Report” page. If the internet connection does not improve, you may cancel the lesson before it starts. However, if you cancel the reservation later than 24 hours before the lesson, 100% of the points required for the lesson will be charged from your account.

Q. Can I share my feedback about the lesson?

Yes, you can. Please click "Lesson History" in the side menu and use the "Feedback" section on the relevant lesson page. Your feedback will be sent to both your tutor and the Nekotalk team.

Q. What is “Favorites”?

"Favorites" is a feature that helps you swiftly book lessons with your preferred tutors. Just add them to the list using the “Favorites” button on either the "Tutor List" page or the "Tutor Details" page.

Q. How much do lessons cost?

Q. What payment methods are available?

We accept debit/credit card payments and bank transfers.

Q. I am a monthly member. I used up my points before the expiration date. What should I do if I want to book more lessons?

You can top up points even though you’re subscribed on a monthly basis. New points expire one month after the date of purchase.

Q. Where can I check the expiration date of my points?

After logging in, you can check the expiration date on the “Point Deposit and Withdrawal Details” page.

Q. Do I have to pay for registration?

No, it’s free.

Q. How do you handle my personal data?

We take privacy seriously and do not share users’ personal data with other individuals or companies as well maintain security systems to prevent unauthorized access, loss, damage, alteration, leakage of personal information.

Q. I’ve registered as a member, but received no confirmation.

Please check your spam/junk mail folder. If you still can’t find the confirmation, contact us via the “Contact Us” page.

Q. Can I amend or delete my personal data?

Yes, you can change your data anytime by editing your profile. If you wish to delete your registered information, please contact us using the form on the “Contact Us” page.

Q. Is anyone else allowed to use Nekotalk under my profile?

No, each student should use their own account to utilize Nekotalk.

Q. Can I suspend or completely halt my membership?

If you are a monthly subscriber and want to have a break from Nekotalk, please cancel your subscription. Otherwise, you will still be charged every month. To cancel it, please write to us via the contact form. You can rejoin us at any moment.

Q. How can I change my password?

Change your password by clicking “Change PW” after logging in.

Q. What if I don’t remember my password?

You can reset your password by clicking "Reset Password" on the login screen.

Q. Are there any technical requirements for my computer and software?

Nothing special, just make sure your web browser as well as Google Meet are of the latest version. This will secure the smoothest user experience on Nekotalk.
